Edward Sander, University of Iowa’s Robert and Virginia Wheeler Faculty Fellow in Engineering, was elected a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) in March 2024.

University of Iowa graduate students won fellowships to learn new skills and expand their networks at national research laboratories, including the National Center for Atmospheric Research and the 12th Workshop on Meteorological Sensitivity Analysis and Data Assimilation.

University of Iowa researchers in engineering, otolaryngology, and neurology are working to improve treatment planning for those struggling with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a common cause of snoring. The research is being backed by a new National Institute of Health R01 grant from the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research, which is expected to reach $2 million over five years.
