The University of Iowa has secured a $6 million, four-year grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to spearhead a multistate initiative aimed at aiding Midwest agricultural communities facing the increasing challenges of severe weather, including floods, droughts, and heat waves.

Robert “Kelly” Ortberg, a 1982 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Engineering, has been named president and chief executive officer of Virginia-based Boeing, effective August 8, 2024. Ortberg, 64, brings a 35-year career in the aerospace industry and a strong engineering background to the post.
