Edward Sander

Edward Sander, University of Iowa’s Robert and Virginia Wheeler Faculty Fellow in Engineering, was elected a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) in March 2024.  

The fellow grade of membership recognizes exceptional engineering achievements and contributions to the engineering profession and ASME.  

Sander, who joined the College of Engineering in 2011, is a professor of biomedical engineering and faculty affiliate of Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging and the Iowa Technology Institute.  

Sander’s research interests are broad, span multiple disciplines, and include both computational and experimental work. His primary focus is on the role of mechanobiological processes and the application of regenerative medicine to problems in wound healing, fibrosis, and scar formation.
