AppsAnywhere Software Portal

What is AppsAnywhere

The AppsAnywhere Software portal is available for Engineer Computer Services managed systems. It allows for the installation of software we have packaged to be deployed to Engineering computers.  Currently requires logged in HawkID to be added to a specific group.

Using AppsAnywhere

AppsAnywhere is restricted to College of Engineering systems only.

  • Sign in with your HawkID and Password
  • Your computer may ask you to ALLOW communication to the AppsAnywhere application on the local system.  CLICK ALLOW.
Login
  • Once the Validation is in progress, you will get a popup to open the AppsAnywhere Launcher,
    Click on the Open AppsAnywhere Launcher button.
    • Optionally you can also check the "Always allow..." checkbox as well

      Open Launcher
  • Select the application you wish to pull down to your computer.  This application will then reside on the system until it is removed.

What is Altiris Software Portal

The Altiris Software Portal is installed on Engineering Computer Services managed systems. It allows for the installation of software we have packaged to be deployed to Engineering computer.

Using Altiris Software Portal

The Altiris Software Portal is only available on Engineering Computer Services managed Windows computers.

  • Right click on the Altiris Agent icon in the System Tray (yellow circle icon with a green padlock) at the bottom right of the screen and select Software Portal.

  • Log into the portal with your HawkID and Password.

  • Select software to install

Microsoft Endpoint Management Software Center

What is Software Center

The Software Center is installed on University of Iowa Windows systems. It allows for the installation of software we have packaged to be deployed to the Windows computers.

Using Software Center

Macintosh Software Options

Self Service

What is Self Service

University of Iowa branded Self Help for Macs is installed on all University owned Macs.  It is located in the Applications folder.

Using Self Service

  • On your Mac, go to the Application folder and click on the Self Service Icon
