Overview
The Technical Entrepreneurship Certificate (TEC) program, offered in partnership with the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, allows students to gain useful business and management skills along with their engineering degree.
The TEC provides interested students with a better understanding of how to manage innovation within an existing business environment or how to start, finance, and manage their own business ventures.
The practical business skill gained though completion of the TEC may enhance the attractiveness of graduates to employers who are looking for engineers with an understanding of the importance of innovation. Students who are interested in starting their own business after graduation will gain essential skills for developing business plans, obtaining financing, enhancing sales and marketing, and managing growth.

Advising Notes
- In order to receive the Technological Entrepreneurship Certificate along with their degree, qualifying students must compete the TEC Application Form.
- Electrical interest students are required to take one additional course from the TEC elective list above, in addition to the listed FA requirements, to satisfy the requirements for the Technological Entrepreneurship Certificate.
- A minor in mathematics can be earned by including one qualifying math course in the FA plan.
