UI engineers and neurologists develop a highly efficient algorithm that can detect Parkinson’s Disease through EEG data

A team at the University of Iowa led by Soura Dasgupta and Nandakumar Narayanan has developed a computational approach using EEG data to diagnose Parkinson's disease. The algorithm achieves 85% accuracy and real-time efficiency, outperforming existing methods and facilitating adaptive deep brain stimulation for symptom management.

ECE alumnus named finalist for Young Author Prize

ECE PhD student wins Best Student Paper Award at international symposium

Matthew G. Finley, a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Iowa, received the "Best Student Paper" award at the 2020 IS&T International Symposium on Electronic Imaging. His paper presented a novel method for compressing 3D range geometry, applicable in various fields including medicine, manufacturing, and entertainment.
