Local Usage Information

The current version of PTC Creo is 2.0. That version cannot convert models to the commercial version, as dicussed below.

PTC Creo 1.0 created models that are not viewable by the commercial version. To change an educational model to be viewable as a commercial model in version 1.0 only, follow these steps:

1. Open the file which has the model you want to convert.
2. Go to Tools | Floating Modules, check EDU_COM_Convert, and click OK. The message window at the bottom of the Creo windows shows: “Option EDU_COM_Convert has been added to the current session”.
3. Save this model file, which is a commercial file. Use Save a Copy to save it by another name. The message window shows: “This file can be used by commercial license. File has been saved”.

Download PTC Creo

Engineering students can download PTC Creo Schools Edition, version 1 or 2, or Creo Elements/Pro, on personal Windows computers by creating an account at PTC. Note that the Student edition uses a one-year license. If you have a one month license, you have probably installed the Trial edition. To get the Student edition, uninstall Creo and use this guide to download and install the Creo Student edition.
