Keith E. Jasperson grew up in Wilton, Iowa, which is about 30 miles east of Iowa City. After high school, Keith started in the engineering program at the University of Iowa, graduating in May of 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Less than a week after graduating, he married his wife, Jackie, in Iowa City. They subsequently moved to the St. Paul, Minnesota, area.
The Jaspersons live in Andover, Minnesota, which is about 20 miles north of Minneapolis. They have three sons who are working in electrical engineering, actuarial science, and computer science. None attended the University of Iowa, although one graduated from Iowa State University.
Keith continued his education at the University of Minnesota, receiving a Master of Science in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science in 1993.
Professionally, Keith has worked in a variety of engineering roles over 37 years. Primarily, Keith has worked for businesses that design and manufacture medical devices. In these businesses he has had an opportunity to contribute to technologies in X-ray imaging, cardiac perfusion, cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators, EKG monitors, implantable drug pumps, implantable sleep apnea therapy, lung cancer detection and treatment, and contrast infusion for imaging. In addition to adjunct teaching of computer science, Keith has also mentored students in formal and informal settings.
In his spare time, Keith enjoys traveling, working on projects with his family, and spending time outdoors. For example, he enjoys road biking and plans to ride his ninth RAGBRAI this summer.
