Hancher-Finkbine Medallion

The prestigious Hancher-Finkbine Medallions are presented each year to students, faculty, staff, and an alumnus or alumna of the University of Iowa. The medallions, first awarded in 1964, are inscribed with the words “learning, leadership, and loyalty,” summarizing the award’s criteria. 

President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence

The President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence recognizes exceptional and ongoing contributions to student learning and success. The award is the highest teaching honor at the University of Iowa. 

Regents Award for Faculty Excellence

Stern is among six faculty members selected by the Iowa Board of Regents for extraordinary contributions and a sustained record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Iowa Mid-Career Faculty Scholar Award

The Iowa Mid-Career Faculty Scholar Award provides funding and development opportunities for outstanding tenured associate professors who have established national or international reputations in their disciplines and are exceptional teachers in and out of the classroom.
