What made you decide to go into engineering as a career path?

I have always thought and approached problems very practically, so engineering was a good fit for me.

What led you to professorship at the University of Iowa?

The freedom to teach great students while doing interesting research.

Favorite thing about being a professor at the University of Iowa?

Teaching and working with students.

What courses are you teaching this upcoming semester? Do you have a favorite?

Separations. My favorite course is Transport Phenomena.

What is your favorite place you have traveled to?

Bologna, Italy

What are some of your hobbies?

Playing guitar and helping family with building projects.

I have 6 children.
