Congratulations to PhD student Fatemeh Dalilian, recipient of the J. Richard Simon Engineering Scholarship! This award is a $5,000 tuition scholarship given to one ISE student each year who demonstrates academic achievement and excellence.
The scholarship honors J. Richard Simon, a longtime professor of psychology and industrial engineering at the University of Iowa. His courses focused on implementing psychology in organizations and designing work environments to optimize satisfaction, safety and efficiency. Simon’s research on cognitive function led to the discovery of the famous “Simon Effect.” During his lifetime, he established several scholarship funds supporting promising graduate students.
