Ten College of Engineering students have enrolled their start-up companies in the University of Iowa Founder's Club for the 2018 spring semester.
The students and their companies are:
Shamus Roeder, majoring in biomedical engineering and human physiology, ABAL Therapeutics, designing software to lighten the burden on parents of children with autism by streamlining at-home ABA therapy exercises.
Daniel Machlab, majoring in electrical engineering, Launchpad Tutoring, a math tutoring company that connects top University of Iowa Engineering students to local 7th-12th grade students who need a boost in the classroom or in ACT preparation.
Austin Gibson, majoring in biomedical engineering, ParameTechs, provides convenient, affordable, and high quality iPhone repairs on college campuses by college students.
Nathan Haas, majoring in civil engineering, Convenie Club, a subscription based, e-commerce company that delivers all of someone's toiletry needs each month at a lower price than buying them anywhere online or even buying them in bulk.
Jiyu (Thomas) Han, majoring in computer science and engineering, MAVOS, a miniaturized autonomous vehicle operations system aiming to design a new system for managing HO-scale vehicles automatically.
Caleb Marting, majoring in computer science and engineering, Avarupt, development of a set of speakers that synchronizes with music and will enhance the experiences of the video gaming community.
Kasra Zarei, master’s student in biomedical engineering, Gheko Technologies, provides innovative medical devices.
Kyle Folken, majoring in mechanical engineering, Headsin, a mobile application that will monitor and track the mental health of student-athletes through a secure survey system.
Michael Delcau, and Anh-Vu Do, both majoring in chemical engineering, Westfjords Winery, Iceland's first and only winery that will serve crowberry and bilberry wines flavored with lcelandic spices and herbs.
Founders Club is a business program for students pursuing the creation of a startup while attending the University of Iowa. Open to all UI students, the business incubator connects students with the resources to launch their startup, and to grow it into a sustainable business.
Welcoming both individual students or teams, the Founders Club is located in the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory (BELL), providing a physical home for student businesses on the UI's campus. Participants have access to a variety of resources including collaborative work space and equipment, one-on-one mentoring from experienced professionals, workshops, trainings, networking, and funding opportunities.
