Area K-12 students enjoyed the Johnson Couny (IA) Fair's inaugural STEM Day July 26.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) leaders from the University of Iowa and Iowa City area shared their expertise through interactive experiences.
Exhibitors included National Advanced Driving Simulator, Grow: Johnson County, Iowa Flood Center, Southeast Iowa STEM Hub, Iowa ATV Injury Prevention Task Force, UI Health Care, State Hygienic Laboratory, and Iowa Tech Chicks.
The Johnson County Fair STEM Day was organized by the SAFER-SIM University Transportation Center at the National Advanced Driving Simulator. The SAFER-SIM program is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of researchers who use innovative simulation approaches to promote safety by sponsoring research, hosting STEM outreach activities, and aiding in transportation safety workforce development efforts.
