Three College of Engineering faculty members have earned prestigious Old Gold Summer Fellowships.
They are James Ankrum, assistant professor, biomedical engineering and researcher at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center; Zhen Kan, assistant professor of mechanical and industrial engineering; and Amaury Lendasse, associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering and an affiliate of the University of Iowa Informatics Initiative.
The Old Gold Summer Fellowship Program is a developmental program for probationary tenure-track assistant and associate professors with nine-month appointments. The award must be taken during the first two years of tenure-track appointment at the University of Iowa.
The award provides recipients with funding for summer work to carry out the activities described in the proposal, which may center on research activities, creative work, or instructional development. Each summer fellowship is expected to result in at least one project for publication, exhibit, performance, or instructional use.
