Elly Rae Martens, majoring in biomedical engineering with a minor in Spanish from Lindenhurst, IL, is one of six University of Iowa students who are Study Abroad Bloggers for the Fall 2016 semester.  She and the other five students were selected from a competitive

pool of writers to tell the story of their destination and represent the voice of the University of Iowa students while abroad.

Throughout the semester, Martens and fellow students will share their experiences through writing and photography to be published weekly on International Accents, run by UI International Programs (https://international.uiowa.edu/news/meet-our-fall-2016-study-abroad-bloggers).

Martens blog post is available at https://international.uiowa.edu/news/mi-terremoto-personal.

Martens will be on the CIEE Liberal Arts program in Santiago, Chile.  She chose the location because she always loved to travel, knew she was going to be a Spanish minor in college, and because Chile offered a "mysterious, cultural experience."
