Milan Sonka, professor of electrical and computer engineering, associate dean for graduate programs and research, and director of the Iowa Institute of Biomedical Imaging, has been elected a

Fellow of the Medical Image Computing and Computer Aided Intervention (MICCAI) Society, one of the highest honors in the international professional society for medical image analysis.

Sonka is honored "for excellent contributions to quantitative medical image analysis."  He is one of only 27 MICCAI Fellows worldwide.  In the recent years, the MICCAI Society elects three Fellows per year.

Sonka was recognized at the annual MICCAI meeting September 14-18, 2014, in Boston, MA.
