Alec LaVelle

Role at the College of Engineering: Design Engineer at the Driving Safety Research Institute.
How long have you been in the area and worked at the College of Engineering?
I came to Iowa for my undergraduate engineering degree in 2012. I started working at DSRI in 2015 as a student research assistant and have been a full-time design engineer with them since 2018.
What is important to you about your role on ESAC?
I joined ESAC to become more connected with the college outside of my research center and meet new people while working to help move the college forward.
What is your favorite place to visit in the area?
I love going to the Iowa City Farmer’s Market, Oasis and Thai Spice for food and Hawkeye Football tailgates/games!
What are your hobbies?
I build and race cars around the country, love the outdoors, hiking/camping/hunting/fishing, and love to hangout with my dog Brynn and cat Aengus!
