A Little More About Me

What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?

Be brave! Engineering is all about facing abstract problems without a set solution-- don't let yourself get so intimidated that you don't try. This also applies to your college experience; the fun is in trying new things!

What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to?

Iowa Pep Band and Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, previously Hawkeye Marching Band

How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?

Whether I'm playing music at a basketball game, watching a football game in Kinnick, or playing intramural volleyball, I love to be involved with sports!

What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?

My favorite part of being a student at Iowa is becoming a part of so many different communities. From Iowa engineers, to musicians, to people who lived at Burge, to the entire Hawkeye community, I always feel like I belong.

What has been your favorite course?

My favorite engineering course was Cardiovascular Biomechanics (now Cardiovascular Engineering). I enjoyed learning about different aspects of the cardiovascular system and the engineering innovations happening within the field. I also loved Calligraphy I: Foundational Hands, which was my "Be Creative" gen ed course.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?

In my free time, I like to read novels, play volleyball, watch Star Wars content or reality TV, and drink iced coffee from any of the fantastic cafes in Iowa City.
