Student Ambassador - Applications closed

Engineering Student Ambassadors welcome and interact with prospective students and their families as representatives of the College of Engineering by participating as a student panelist and tour guide during small daily visits and large recruitment events. Ambassadors work on additional projects to support the Engineering Admissions office and connect with prospective students.

Engineering Peer Advisor - Applications closed

Peer Advisors provide personalized support and guidance to undergraduate students as they pursue academic, career, and personal success. Peer advisors will meet with students, provide support for the career fair and other events, and work on other projects to support Engineering Career Services.

Engineering Tutor - Applications OPEN

Applications open for 2024-2025 positions

Engineering Tutors work with individuals or small groups of students in mastering course content. Tutors empower fellow Iowa Engineers to become independent, confident, and self-directed learners. Tutors typically work one to three shifts per week (3 hours/shift), are paid for training and professional development, and can receive a tutoring certificate that is recognized on campus after two semesters of employment. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to become a Teaching Assistant or educator in the future.

LEaPP Mentor - Applications closed

The LEaPP Academy aims to provide Engineering students with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives they need to achieve long-term success, become valued professionals, and develop into ethical and globally aware world citizens. The LEaPP Mentor student position works with students completing the academy, answering questions and assisting in finding leadership and development opportunities. They will also assist the Assistant Director of Leadership Development with event planning and promotion.

Hanson Center for Communication Writing Tutor - Applications OPEN

Applications open for 2024-2025 positions 

Are you an engineering undergraduate who has completed your first year and has experience in writing, preparing data and giving presentations? Are you interested in a paid position to use and grow those skills while assisting fellow students? The Hanson Center for Communication (HCC)’s undergraduate tutor position may be a good fit for you! 

As an HCC tutor, your duties will consist of working with other undergraduate engineering students to provide feedback on drafts of lab reports, writing assignments, and presentations. To ensure you are supported in your role, Hanson Center holds weekly one-hour meeting/training sessions for all our tutors. 

Applicants must be undergraduate engineering students who have completed their first year. Tutors will be compensated $12 per hour, for a regular 4-8 hours a week (you will arrange your schedule with HCC) throughout the academic year. Tutoring sessions will be conducted in in-person meetings with students in the Engineering Library’s HCC room (2228 SC), with the option of some remote tutoring.
