The Midwest Big Data Hackathon is being organized at the University of Iowa on September 16-17, 2017, in the Second Floor Ballroom, Iowa Memorial Union. The event is open to all university students who have a passion for creating things with technology.

More than 280 participants, including student developers, designers, and data enthusiasts of all kinds, will participate in exciting projects looking at the opportunities around big data. The event will be free and open to students working or having interest to work in the area of big data domains.

Students will form teams to work on their project (or 'hack') up to 4 members. Projects are open format, which means that participants can hack on web, mobile, desktop, or hardware applications. Company mentors will be available throughout the event for questions to make sure beginners and experts alike will have the help they need to successfully develop their project. All teams will demonstrate their hacks at the end of the event and winners will be chosen by company mentors.
