How did you choose the University of Iowa? I chose the University of Iowa because of the countless opportunities to participate in undergraduate research. The UofI and Iowa City community was also great and I always had something to do around the campus/city.
Describe your career path and the work you are currently doing. I started graduate school this fall and am currently working towards a PhD in chemical engineering. I am hoping to study self-assembly of polymer systems.
How did the CBE Department prepare you for your career?
The CBE department prepared me for my future career by providing opportunities for undergraduate research in addition to great instruction during courses. My professors were always available to help with classwork, and excited to support students on their path to becoming a chemical engineer.
What advice would you want to share with current or future ChemE students?
I would definitely recommend exploring research opportunities. Undergraduate research is a great activity that can be done even during the school year both graduate school and industry recruiters love seeing research on a resume. It is also a great way to get to know upperclassmen, graduate students, and the professors in the department.
