The University of Iowa College of Engineering has announced named and endowed positions for two engineering professors. 

Caterina Lamuta, associate professor of mechanical engineering, has received the Robert and Virginia Wheeler Faculty Fellowship in Engineering. The fellowship was established in 2003 through a gift from the estate of Robert Wheeler, a graduate of the College of Engineering, and his wife, Virginia. Robert Wheeler received Iowa degrees in 1948, 1948, and a PhD in 1958, followed by a lengthy career as an engineering professor. Virginia R. Wheeler served as a supervisor for the Brown Shoe Company, St. Louis. The permanent endowment is intended too provide annual spendable earnings to support the College of Engineering's academic and research pursuits.

Jun Wang, professor and department executive officer of chemical and biochemical engineering, has received the Lichtenberger Family Chair in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. The endowed chair was established through a gift from H. William Lichtenberger, a 1959 alumnus and industrial leader who Forbes once ranked among top 300 most powerful executives. Lichtenberger served as president of both major companies in the United States, Union Carbide and Praxair. The endowment is intended to support the enhancement of teaching, scholarship, and outreach for a distinguished faculty member in the department.
