The scholarly and service contributions of Ananya Sen Gupta, a University of Iowa associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, are being recognized by peers in the field’s professional society.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE) Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) bestowed two honors on Sen Gupta, an expert in signal processing and pattern recognition who joined the College of Engineering in 2013.

Sen Gupta, who is also a faculty affiliate at the Iowa Technology Institute, was elected as a member of the IEEE OES Administrative Committee for a three-year term starting in 2025. The IEEE OES also inducted Sen Gupta as a professional member into the Eta Kappa Nu, the honor society of IEEE, during the IEEE Oceans conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia in September 2024.

Sen Gupta has worked to develop geometric computational techniques that enable sophisticated representation, localization, tracking, and classification of environmental process with application in coastal environments and the Earth’s Van Allen radiation belt.
