A new University of Iowa-led study, published in the journal Science, found that wildfire-driven air pollution has reversed years of progress in reducing ozone pollution across much of the U.S., including the Midwest. The research shows how smoke from distant fires can affect air quality far from the source and has contributed to hundreds of premature deaths since 2013.
