Hometown
Johnston, Iowa—a northwest suburb of Des Moines.

Inspiration
After my junior year, I realized I wanted to continue growing academically. With encouragement from Professor Priscilla Williams and my advisor, Larry Weber, pursuing graduate school at Iowa felt like a natural next step.

Why Iowa
I was drawn to Iowa’s unique campus, seamlessly connected to downtown Iowa City. Having coffee shops, bookstores, and local events just steps from class creates a vibrant and engaging college experience.

Why It’s a Great Fit
Iowa offers the best of both worlds—a Big Ten atmosphere with a close-knit engineering community. Small class sizes foster collaboration, meaningful connections with faculty, and strong preparation for industry.

Beyond the Classroom
One of my most unique experiences has been serving as Herky the Hawk, representing Iowa at hundreds of athletic, university, and special events—including a Nissan commercial during March Madness. I’ve also participated in intramural sports and served as a Teaching Assistant for technical communications and engineering courses.

Proudest Accomplishments
Graduating with Highest Distinction and University Honors while maintaining a balanced college experience. I’m also proud to have represented the University in such a visible and memorable way as Herky.

Life in Iowa City
There’s always something happening—from festivals and concerts to gamedays and community events. The scenic campus, especially the river and Old Capitol, makes it an inspiring place to live and study.

What’s Next
I plan to pursue a career in private industry as an engineering consultant specializing in hydraulic structure design.

Why Choose Iowa Engineering
Take full advantage of everything Iowa offers. The program provides excellent academics, collaborative learning, and a vibrant student experience—making your time here both meaningful and memorable.

Fun Fact
I’ve played piano for 16 years and am currently learning guitar!
