The University of Iowa College of Engineering has announced the winners of the 2026 Honored Engineering Alumni Awards.

The awards program featured a day of activities to celebrate the winners. This included tours of the Seamans Center and laboratories, interaction with students, and engagement with faculty and staff, capped by an awards banquet at Kinnick Stadium. 

The distinguished class of honorees included a long-time civil engineering professor, an inventor, United States Air Force lieutenant colonel, and a data science professional for the National Basketball Association.

Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy: Gene F. Parkin (1970 BSCE, 1971 MS) 

Alumni Service Award: Yun-Ho Sikora (1986 BSE) 

Outstanding Recent Alumni Award: Lt. Col. Patrick "Dice" Highland, PhD (2020 MS, 2022 PhD) 

Merit Award Winners 

Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Award: Dr. Meesha Dogan (2011 BSE, 2021 MS, 2017 PhD) 

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Award: Jane L. Driscoll (1995 BSE, 2006 MBA) 

Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Award: Victoria A. Aden (1981 BSIE) 

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Award: Raj Shanmugaraj (1981 MS) 

Department of Mechanical Engineering Award: Reza Kargarzadeh (1981 BSME)

Roy J. Carver Department of Biomedical Engineering Award: Erik Nylen (2008 BSE, 2010 MS)
