Longtime supporter of the University of Iowa College of Engineering, Gregs G. Thomopulos (10DSC), has been honored with a 2025 International Impact Award, recognizing sustained and deep contributions internationally or in the U.S. to promote global understanding.

During a 51-year career working at Stanley Consultants, in Muscatine, Iowa, Thomopulos made numerous contributions to the engineering field, including bringing electricity to the Philippines, safe water to Egypt, and post-Gulf War reconstruction to Kuwait and Iraq, Adam Blind, UI Center for Advancement executive director of advancement, noted in the nomination.

Karri Goeldner Byrne (92BA), a distinguished leader in international development with Mercy Corps and the International Rescue Committee was also honored with an 2025 International Impact Award from International Programs this year. 

Thomopulos is chairman emeritus of Stanley Consultants, Inc., a global consulting engineering organization headquartered in Muscatine, Iowa, with offices nationally and internationally. He was its president/CEO for 20 years and chairman of the board for 10 years prior to his retirement in June 2017.

Additionally, he is a past member of the UI College of Engineering Advisory Board, a current member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of International Business in the UI Tippie College of Business, and a current member of the Board of the UI Center for Advancement. 

UI Center for Advancement also honored Thomopulos with an Eight Over 80 award this year.
