University of Iowa engineering students participated in the 2025 AIChE student regional conference hosted by the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, on April 11 and 12.
David Murhammer, professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and advisor of Iowa’s AIChE student chapter, and 26 students attended the conference. Iowa had three teams participate among 17 competing teams. The teams included Maxwell’s Silver Hammer (Liam Horan, Colin Houts, Eric Hou, Rhea Fisch), DaSh of Disaster (Don Roberts, Alex Rohm, Henry Benton, Sydney Schulte), and Caleb’s Nephews (Caleb Coulthard, Mathew Kawa, Cade Machin, Fahim Rafi).
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer finished in first place and qualified for the national competition to be held in Boston, Massachusetts, in the fall. This is the fifth consecutive year that the University of Iowa has won the regional ChemE Jeopardy competition.
In addition, three students presented posters: Keegan Birt, Rhea Fisch, and Alex Rohm.
