Joseph Reinhardt, University of Iowa Roy J. Carver Chair in Biomedical Engineering, has been elected as a fellow of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineers (IAMBE) in recognition of his exemplary achievements in the area of biomedical engineering.

Reinhardt, a professor of biomedical engineering, joined the College of Engineering in 1997. His research interests are in the area of medical image processing with a special emphasis on pulmonary imaging. He's authored or co-authored a book, multiple book chapters, more than 120 journal articles, and hundreds of conference papers, and is listed on six patents. 

The IAMBE recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to the field of medical and biological engineering. Being elected as a fellow is a significant honor and a testament to Reinhardt's outstanding work and dedication to the field, according to the organization.

Reinhardt is also a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).
