Jennifer Fiegel, professor of chemical and biochemical engineering, will serve a three-year term on the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Societal Impact Operating Council (SIOC).
AIChE is the distinguished organization for chemical engineering professionals. The SIOC aims to advance and enrich the profession worldwide by fostering a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and respectful environment for members of the profession.
Fiegel will join the council in promoting technical literacy through education and outreach, encouraging meaningful and constructive discourse with the public, and enabling chemical engineers to make a conscientious, responsible, and sustainable impact on society.
Professor, researcher, and member of many professional societies, Fiegel has been advancing the field with the University of Iowa College of Engineering since 2006. Fiegel is also a faculty affiliate of the Iowa Technology Institute.
Her specific areas of knowledge are drug delivery, polymeric biomaterials, nano and microtechnology, and airborne infectious diseases.
