Subin Erattakulangara, a University of Iowa PhD candidate in the Roy J. Carver Department of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded the Sharks’ Top Choice award at a premier meeting for the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in June 2023 in Toronto.  

The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) annual meeting is attended by 5000-6000 people every year. The meeting included Shark Tank 2023, a competition modeled after the popular television show in which contestants pitch investors on bringing their invention to market. 

Erattakulangara was recognized for his Bridge AI Hub presentation. Bridge AI Hub is a platform he built with his teammate, Aravin Sivamurugan, an MD candidate at the Carver College of Medicine. The platform is meant for sharing AI based software with the public. The team was also part of the Iowa City Builders + Backers Idea Accelerator Program and the UI Graduate Student/Faculty Startup Incubator.
