Witold Krajewski, Rose & Joseph Summers Chair in Water Resources Engineering, professor of civil and environmental engineering, and director of the Iowa Flood Center, has been selected to receive The Hydrologic Sciences Medal from the American Meteorological Society (AMS).

He is being recognized for foundational contributions to radar hydrometeorology, and for leading the only center in the United States dedicated to flood research.

Krajewski will receive the medal January 7-11, 2018, at the 98th AMS Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas.

Founded in 1919, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) is the nation’s premier scientific and professional organization promoting and disseminating information about the atmospheric, oceanic, hydrologic sciences. The more than 13,000 members include scientists, researchers, educators, broadcast meteorologists, students, weather enthusiasts, and other professionals in the fields of weather, water, and climate.
