Engineering alumnus Jay Dittman (BSE 2001 biomedical engineering), quality and regulatory director at NICO Corporation, Indianapolis, IN, is recipient of a Dean's Award for Early Career Achievement and will present a special seminar at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, in Stanley Auditorium, 1505 Seamans Center, Iowa City, IA.

Dittman will speak on "Biomedical Engineering in the Real World." 

The Dean's Award for Distinguished Service is presented to alumni under 40 years old at the time of selection who have accomplished remarkable early career success with their professional field or industry.

NICO Corporation, formed in October 2007, is dedicated to developing technology for the field of corridor surgery, including Cranial, ENT, Spinal and Otolaryngology where access to the surgical site is limited. Its technology and products are designed to progress corridor surgery by creating instruments that allow for access through smaller openings and resection of soft tissue abnormalities.
