What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?
Keep an open mind and push yourself to try new things! The rewards far outweigh the risks of leaving your comfort zone.

What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to?
Ski & Snowboard Club, UIowa Environmental Coalition, UIowa Dance Marathon. (also American Society of Civil Engineers and Female Alliance of Civil Engineers inside the college)

Have you had any international experience? If so, where did you go, for how long, and what did you do?
I have not studied abroad YET, but I have gone on a community service trip to Toronto, Canada, as well as a two-week educational tour across England, France, and Spain.

How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?
Aside from my engineering coursework, I have a strong passion for the arts. I love drawing, listening to music, visiting museums, collecting art, reading, and writing. I am excited to combine my passion for art with my Civil Engineering background to pursue a masters in architecture after undergrad.

Have you done any research with a professor? If so, what department was the professor and what was your research about?
I will be working under Dr. Robert Bork in the Art History department next semester. My research will focus on 3D mapping of gothic cathedrals to better analyze their geometrical design.

What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?
I really appreciate our tight-knit culture while also reaping the benefits of being on a Big10 campus. I also love that I get to meet all kinds of interesting people who bring so many unique things to the table, which enriches both my academic and social life here at Iowa.

Who is your favorite professor and why?
Professor Rick Fosse or Professor Jeff Crone. Both do an amazing job of relating course material to the real world and they truly care about their students inside and outside of the classroom.

What has been your favorite course?
Inside the college - Statics. Outside the college - Intro to Earth Science

What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?
I love trying new restaurants, watching movies, practicing yoga, and spending time outside hiking, skiing, or studying the stars.
