The Lowell G. Battershell Chair in Engineering was established through a gift to the University of Iowa from the late University of Iowa business graduate Lowell G. Battershell of Van Nuys, California. Mr. Battershell worked much of his career for Douglas Aircraft Company, Long Beach, California, assigned to the Research and Development Division where he developed a deep interest in engineering.
