Once you have completed everything on this list, you are ready to meet with your advisor!
Ensure you have done the following:
- Taken the ALEKS math placement OR the Advanced Math Placement. If you took a year or more of Calculus in high school or earned college credit for Calculus, you should take the Advanced Math Placement Test (AMPT).
- Placement exam scores are REQUIRED to register for classes.
- Review the Engineering Course Placement Guidelines webpage for specific information about placement tests and information about retake options.
- Taken the chemistry placement test. This test is REQUIRED for College of Engineering students.
- Review the Engineering Course Placement Guidelines webpage for specific information about placement tests and information about retake options.
- Reported any AP/IB exam and/or dual enrollment/college transfer credit. This is very important for your advisor to provide accurate course recommendations.
- If you have not reported credit, refer to the Reporting Transfer and Post-Secondary Coursework and Credit by Examination section of the MyUI SOAR page.
- Watched all the videos and webpages linked on the MyUI SOAR page.
- Reviewed your Individualized Recommendations Document (found at the top of the MyUI SOAR page).
This individualized PDF will be available 3 days before your SOAR appointment.
Prepare your materials:
- Upload courses to your Schedule Builder Course Cart.
- Save some Preferred Schedules.
- Write down questions for your advisor.
- Plan to use an electronic device to attend the appointment and complete your enrollment.
Using a device with a larger screen (i.e. desktop, laptop, or tablet) is recommended. - Download the Zoom app, test your audio/video settings, and practice using the chat and share screen functions.
- Download the Zoom desktop client. Click Download Client on the bottom of the page and follow the steps to complete the download for your device.
