A Little More About Me
What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?
I would encourage freshmen to get involved and meet more engineering students because these are the people you'll mainly spend time with the next four years. Plus it is nice having a group to do homework with!
What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to?
I have been involved in Greek Life and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers!
How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?
I am an engineer and something more through my involvement in the community. From taking on leadership roles and volunteering, I enjoy working with people.
Have you done any research with a professor? If so, what department was the professor and what was your research about?
I have done research with Dr. Amany Farag over in the College of Nursing! I assisted with developing an ESMAR app where the goal was to improve the accuracy of the medicine administration amongst elementary students.
Is there something else you'd like to tell us about yourself?
I grew up playing sports, specifically lacrosse (which I promise is super popular in Colorado). This has stuck with me into college because I find it helpful to go to the gym after a stressful day or as a study break to distract myself from school. I have even gotten certified as a group fitness instructor for fun!
What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?
My favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa is by far the community and spirit around being a Hawkeye. It always stands out to me how proud alumni are and their willingness to mentor and be present for current students.
Who is your favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor is Dr. Arunkumar Pennathur! He is easily one of my most favorite professors because he took the time to learn all of our names and kept the classes he taught focused on us. He also brings in guest speakers that he thinks would be good for us to network with. Basically he does everything while still making us laugh once and awhile.
What has been your favorite course?
My favorite course has been Digital Systems Simulation. I found it really interesting to set up and model systems that we interact with like airport security..
What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?
In my free time I love walking around Iowa City. My roommates and I will walk along the river when it is nice out or go to the cute shops downtown that are locally owned! Also football games in the fall!!
A fun picture of me.
