Barbara J. Sines

Barbara Sines is retired vice president of manufacturing at Siemens Healthcare, Boston, MA. A senior level executive with 30 years experience leading global businesses within industrial manufacturing companies, her background includes global profit and loss, strategic planning, engineering and development, marketing and manufacturing. She formerly was vice president and general manager, low voltage products for ABB U.S., and vice president and general manager for Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee, WI. In that role, she was responsible for worldwide engineering and marketing activities for control and information platforms, including programmable logic controllers, and open and embedded visualization products. In addition to managing a highly technical business, she has served as a mentor to fellow employees worldwide, and was one of the driving forces behind the implementation of company wide programs designed to improve and accelerate performance. Sines also was plant manager at Square D in Cedar Rapids, IA, before joining Rockwell Automation. Since earning a B.S. in industrial engineering from The University of Iowa in 1980, Sines has remained involved with the College as a mentor at the Student Leadership Institute and as a volunteer with ASIST (Alumni Seeking Iowa Students), for which engineering alumni encourage top students to consider Iowa. Sines also presented at the College of Engineering’s “Grabbing the Globe” series, discussing international business and views on the importance of being globally aware, adept, and adaptable. She is currently a member of the Engineering Advisory Board at The University of Iowa.
