Quantum Science and Engineering

Our research centers on probing fundamental quantum phenomena in novel solid-state materials. We precisely investigate the coupled dynamics of electron transport, phonon-mediated interactions, and coherent photon generation at the nanoscale, aiming to uncover new principles governing quantum energy conversion and information flow.

  • Quantum design of materials allows us to develop millimeter-sized lasers that can emit several watts of light
  • We are developing electromagnetically-engineered coatings for quantum computing platforms to reduce noise in superconducting qubits
  • Our quantum-engineered devices research is relevant to a wide range of applications from national security to biomedicine
