Greetings, friends and alumni of Iowa Engineering!
I am delighted to bring you this year’s issue of Iowa Engineer!
This issue offers a window into the energy and purpose that define our college. It is a place shaped by passionate faculty and staff, motivated and forward-looking students, and a shared dedication to strengthening communities locally, nationally, and globally.
As I reflect upon the last year and look forward to future opportunities, I am inspired by the work of this college. Without a doubt, we take every chance to innovate, inspire the next generation of engineers, and transform communities by improving quality of life.
To put it even more succinctly, we create the change that the world needs.
Engineering is rooted in possibility. It calls for curiosity, persistence, and the confidence to tackle complex problems. Engineers don’t stand still; they adapt, they imagine, and they act. I see those qualities in action throughout our college: in the way students work together to solve challenges, in the discoveries emerging from our research labs, and in the far-reaching contributions of our alumni. The impact of what we teach and what we create extends well beyond campus, and this edition of Iowa Engineer captures just a fraction of that broader story.
As we move forward, I am excited about the path ahead. Our graduates will continue to lead and innovate in industries, universities, public service, and nonprofit organizations. Our faculty and researchers will push new frontiers, from safeguarding information to transforming communication and protecting natural resources. And our staff will remain essential to our success, supporting students and ensuring the college continues to thrive.
Thank you for your continued support of our college community of scholars and learners.
