during their first semester on the UI campus.

Demonstrations will take place 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 8; Wednesday, December 10; and Friday, December 12 in the First Floor Atrium at the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences, Capitol Street, Iowa City.  Six teams of students will demonstrate their devices during each of the sessions (total of 18 teams of 54 students). Each student team has designed their own model catapult/trebuchet. The projectiles vary by project design, everything from a jack ball to a tennis ball.

Engineering Problem Solving I is a combination lecture/design project course that is broken down into sections.   Professor Gary Fischer, adjunct professor of mechanical and industrial engineering, along with teaching assistant Salvador Rojas-Murillo, teaches two of the design project sections.
