The Workbench

Student makerspace designed to ignite innovation, foster collaboration, and provide hands-on learning experiences within the Iowa Engineering community.

Design consultation

  • Mechanical: Design and manufacturability consultation that includes design, manufacturing process, and solid modeling services.
  • Electrical: Design, technical specifications, and product sourcing consultation for electronics or networking projects.

Fabrication and machining

  • 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining
  • Laser and Waterjet cutting
  • Reverse engineering and Prototype design
  • Lab maintenance, repair, support
  • UV printing and Name tags

3D printing

  • Consumer-grade 3D printing services. Material colors: black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, beige, and gray.
  • Note: We do not edit your print. If you need anything changed or added, please use the Advanced 3D Printing service.
  • This is for 3D prints that DO NOT require dissolvable support.

Advanced 3D printing

  • Advanced additive printing of parts by optimizing resolution, slicing, materials, and build orientation with the use of commercial-grade 3D printers.
  • For 3D prints that require dissolvable support.

Locker rental

Rental of student lockers located in the Seamans Center.
