I got my PhD from University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in computer engineering. My research was on robotics (drones with wireless power transfer and optimization algorithms). I got my master's in computer science from Maharishi International University (MIU) Fairfield, IA. I got my bachelor's in computer engineering from the University of Baghdad, Iraq.

After each one of my degrees, I worked in industry prior to going back to school to obtain the following degree. This has made my life journey a fascinating and unique trip of mixed academic and industry experiences. Not only did my academics enrich my industry impact but at the same time my industry experience sheds new light in my academic endeavors. In industry everyone is impressed with the breadth of knowledge I can bring to the table. My students always express appreciation for my ability to bring industry experiences and best practices to the classroom.

After my bachelor's I worked in print press software, cellular services and soft-switches,  database, and database-optimization.

After my master's I worked in web applications, mobile applications, big data, AI, and cloud computing.

After my PhD I worked on self-driving cars in San Francisco, employing both path planning and real-time problem solving, as well as AI utilization.

As well as working as an engineer in the above roles, I have worked in academia:

• University of Baghdad: Lab instructor in the Microprocessor Lab, C++ Programming Language Lab, and Controls Lab

• Maharishi International University (MIU): Taught the topics robotics, cloud computing, web development, programming languages, and software engineering.

And now at the University of Iowa!
