Degree application

Students may request to walk in a ceremony that differs from when they complete their requirements for degree. Please send a request to the Engineering Registrar using the form at the link below. There is no summer commencement ceremony therefore, these students may request to walk in the fall or spring ceremonies.

The ceremony will be livestreamed with captions enabled. If you cannot access the video during the livestream, it will be available on the University of Iowa’s YouTube channel after the ceremony begins.

Professional photos taken by Flash Photography will be available for purchase to each graduate participating in the ceremony. Flash Photography will provide a complimentary proof using the contact information on the back of the name cards.

Students graduating within the top 10% of the class, as measured by GPA, will be recognized as graduating with Distinction. Three stars designates Highest Distinction, or the top 2%; two stars designates High Distinction, or the next 3%, and one star designates Distinction, or the next 5%. The Registrar's Office will send these stars by U.S. Mail to your residing address along with instructions on how to wear them.

Diplomas will be mailed out after final grades have been entered and degree audits are complete. Please make sure your forwarding address is updated in the MyUI system.
