2008 BSE, 2010 MS

Erik was born and raised a Hawkeye in West Des Moines. While studying biomedical engineering at Iowa, Erik honed his scientific skills in the UIHC Ophthalmology Department, studying clinical genetics and physiology under Dr. Edwin Stone. Erik continued his studies at NYU, receiving a PhD in neural science. In 2016, he completed an Insight Data Science fellowship and joined the NYC-based startup Parsec. Erik is co-author of the textbook Neural Data Science. He joined the National Basketball Association in 2019, where he is currently the vice president of data science. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and two kids and still proudly sports the tiger hawk logo around the NBA office.
