Aalok Sahai

Dr. Aalok Sahai was born and raised in Iowa and earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He completed his general surgery training at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis before specializing in colorectal surgery with advanced fellowship training at Western Pennsylvania/Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Since 2007, he has been practicing in Phoenix, AZ.

Board-certified in both general and colorectal surgery, Dr. Sahai co-founded Sonoran Surgical, a private surgical practice in Chandler, with his twin brother in 2014. He evaluates and treats patients with a focus on colon cancer prevention, office-based proctology, colon and rectal cancer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and diverticular disease. As a key leader in a multidisciplinary care team for colorectal cancer patients, he guides individuals from diagnosis through surgical treatment.

Dr. Sahai has a strong interest in the intersection of engineering and surgery, particularly in the development and application of minimally invasive techniques. He specializes in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted colorectal procedures, utilizing the advanced Da Vinci® Surgical System to enhance precision and patient outcomes. A proponent of surgical innovation, he has been instrumental in integrating new biomedical technologies and advanced surgical methodologies in the Phoenix area to address complex colorectal conditions.

In his personal life, Dr. Sahai is married to Dr. Shimul Sahai, and together they have two teenage daughters, Aashni and Jaya. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and playing tennis in his free time.
