What is the Academy?
The Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy was created to honor University of Iowa engineering alumni for their personal contribution toward engineering achievement, leadership, and service to the profession and to society.
When did the Academy begin?
The charter induction ceremony took place February 24, 1996, in conjunction with National Engineer's Week.
How does someone become a member of the Academy?
Inductees are nominated by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and anyone else who wishes to submit a nomination. The College of Engineering Dean makes the final selection.
Who are the current members of the Academy?
More than 90 alumni have been inducted to date. Their names and biographical sketches can be found on the membership page. The members also are featured in a permanent display on the third floor of the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences, just down the hall from the Dean's Office.
