Sherri A. Long, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist who has practiced in the Twin Cities area since 1988. Born and raised in West Branch, Iowa, she entered the University of Iowa College of Engineering in the fall of 1975. She was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi, and Mortar Board Honor Societies and a social member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She graduated in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with an emphasis in biomedical engineering.
The following fall she attended medical school at the Carver School of Medicine in Iowa City and completed an internal medicine internship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St Louis, Missouri. She returned to Iowa City to complete her three-year residency in dermatology at the University of Iowa, where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Long has been on staff at the University of Minnesota part-time as an assistant clinical professor and taught second-year medical students. She has been named as one of Minnesota Monthly’s Top Doctors and has been listed as Top-Doctor in Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine every year since 2009.
Dr. Long is a ciplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is a member of both the Minnesota and Iowa Dermatological Societies and is also a member of the Dermatology Foundation Leader’s Society.
She married William Long, a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Iowa. They have twins, age 27, who both graduated from the University of Iowa.
