Visit the College of Engineering

There are many opportunities for prospective students to visit the College of Engineering and get to know more about the incredible students, faculty, opportunities, and facilities. The College of Engineering participates in most campus visit programs held at the University of Iowa.

Daily engineering academic sessions and tours

Register for a daily visit (morning options only) on a day that fits your schedule and select to attend the College of Engineering presentation and tour in the afternoon. Daily visits with engineering academic sessions ensure that you learn essential information about the University of Iowa before you learn more about your future in the College of Engineering.

  • Meet with a member of the engineering admissions team and engineering student ambassadors to learn more about the College of Engineering.
  • Join our ambassadors for a walking tour of the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts & Sciences. Take a look into the life of an engineering student while touring our classrooms, teaching and research labs, student support resources, popular areas to meet and study, and other favorite spots in the engineering building.

Explore Engineering Visit Day

Join us for a campus visit experience focused on an in-depth exploration of the opportunities in engineering at the University of Iowa. Get to know our collaborative community by hearing from current engineering students, engineering faculty, and other members of the Hawkeye family. Whether you know your future is as an engineer or you simply exploring the different engineering majors and possibilities, the Explore Engineering Visit Day will be a great experience for you. The Explore Engineering Visit Day includes:

  • An Involvement and Resources Fair, where meet leaders from a variety of engineering student organizations and representatives from important resources around campus, or take an optional campus walking tour!
  • An Iowa Overview session, including information about admission, housing, financial aid, and student life.
  • An Engineering Overview and Q&A session with current engineering students
  • Lunch and Residence Hall Tour, featuring the Engineering Makerspace
  • Learn about all eight engineering majors offered at Iowa during “Meet the Majors” and attend up to three faculty-hosted major sessions.
  • Tour the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts & Sciences to see research and teaching labs, student support resources, popular areas to meet and study, and other favorite spots in the engineering building.

Group visits

The University of Iowa and the College of Engineering welcome school and community groups to experience our campus! Group visits are designed for student groups of 10 to 40, accompanied by adult chaperones, who are interested in learning about Iowa’s engineering programs, the work being done by our community of engineers, and the opportunity to become a student at Iowa.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) High School Conference

When: April 12, 2024, 3 to 9:30 p.m.
Open to grades 9 through 12

Explore the University of Iowa's engineering facility, meet students with similar academic interests, and learn all about Iowa's engineering program from current students and professors. 

Students will learn about the Society of Women Engineers, engineering at Iowa, and the different disciplines offered within engineering. We will provide engineering-related activities to further interest in the STEM field. High School Conference also includes a panel with professional women in engineering and university professors.
