Graduate students have two opportunities to receive a bonus for applying for nationally competitive fellowships. The purpose is to encourage submission of applications by providing an incentive to do so. Each year, the College of Engineering receives applications from Engineering students, at least four of which in 2018 alone were successfully funded as prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship awards. If you submit a fellowship application to any organization, let us know and receive an incentive!

1. College of Engineering Graduate Incentive Fellowship (GIF) – $100

Eligibility and instructions:

  1. Submission of this GIF application must be made at the time of your initial application.
  2. The fellowship application must be nationally competitive.
  3. A copy of the fellowship application must be included with the GIF application.
  4. Students must agree to inform the Associate Dean of the outcome of the application. You do not need to have a successful application to receive the $100 bonus, just proof you submitted.
    • Example proof of submission: confirmation email, screenshot of online submission page, notification of funding decision from organization, etc.

The application for this opportunity with further instructions is attached. For questions, please contact Joshua Lobb, 3123 SC, joshua-lobb@uiowa.edu.
